Just Because

That is the name of my little shop I just opened at Something Old & Something New in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana.  Located at 801 Berard Street.  This is the first time I have done something like this.  A little scary and exciting at the same time. 

Special thanks to Pro for helping me with getting set up.   Di and Kay have been great new friends in helping me start this new part of my dreams.

Also, my friend Pro and I have opened a new etsy shop Preauxcreations.  Check it out.  We will have lots of interesting things listed shortly. 

This is my little Kennedy.  Pops and Kennedy were having fun this weekend playing with plants.

Kaden is Awake

The doctors allowed Kaden to wake up this afternoon.  He seems to be doing OK.  He is talking (a little like a drunk, but that's OK).  He drank a little Sprite.

When he first woke up he asked the nurse  if he was alive.  Can you imagine.  Cha baby.

This child is so full of life.  Thank goodness he is OK.

Can't sleep

Woke up worrying about Kaden and the rest of the family.  Such a heavy burden on their shoulders.  His mom and dad look exhausted.  His brother is just now getting over the guilt he was carrying. 

Yesterday a new patient was admitted to the hospital and he is apparently a member of some gang.  The hospital put a security guard in the children's Intensive Care Unit.  Can you imagine?  Like we don't have enough to worry about.  Gang activity in the Children's Intensive Care Unit. 

The doctor may be allowing Kaden to come partially out of his chemically induced sleep today.  They don't want him to move his back, due to the graft on his spine.  Now we are talking about a 7 year old.  This is going to be a tough job.  

By the way, I forgot to mention, the pencil that was removed from his back was 5 inches long.  

Please keep praying, we are not out of the woods yet.

Out of Surgery

Kaden is out of surgery.  The pencil is out.  No torn or severed nerves in his spine.  Bruised nerves, but that is OK for now.

They put a graft on the spine.  He will be sedated for a few days to let the graft take hold. 

What an unbelievable night and day.

We still have to take each day, one day at a time for now.

I need your help

This wonderful little boy is my 7 year old grandson Kaden.  He accidentally fell on a pencil that lodged in this lower spine.  He is having surgery this morning at 7. 

    I am asking you all please to send your prayers to him and our family.

Home Again

Well we made it.  Out of the snow and cold to cool and humid.  I love Louisiana.

My computer has been down since I got back home.  Just got the home computer working.  The laptop is still out of commission.  Hopefully tomorrow I can get it working.
 
My pictures are on the laptop, so nothing to post tonight. 

I just finished reading the 250 plus posts  that have piled up in the last 3 days.  You ladies have been busy while I was having fun.  Lots of inspiration.

Jodie, you sound like you had a great Mardi Gras.  One year I have to go try your type of Mardi Gras.  A lot different than ours here in Lafayette.  I did see a few beads in Utah.  Lots of people from Louisiana were there.  But surprisingly, I learned there is a Mardi Gras parade in Buffalo, New York.  Who would have believed that.

Tomorrow I will try to get photos of the snow and fun.
