I haven’t posted in a while due to this beautiful baby having open heart surgery. This is our youngest grandbaby. She was born with a number of problems with her heart. Fortunately the doctors at Le Bonheur Hospital in Memphis have been able to help her. We definitely had a rollercoaster ride with our emotions due to a scare or two, but right now things look promising. Anyone who reads this blog, would you please keep her in your thoughts.

Let’s start at the beginning. Approximately 20+ years ago I was a divorced mom of 2. I received in the mail a package from California to Sandy, for you who do not know, my name is Sandi. No return address. It is from someone I do not know, for at the time I knew no one from CA. I open the package and find a painting of a clown from Uncle Johnny. I don’t know what to do. I put up the painting and forgot about it. Since then, my children have grown with children of their own. I have remarried and moved a number of times. A couple of days ago my husband is cleaning out a closet and discovers the clown painting. I think, OK, in this new age of technology, lets try to find this Uncle Johnny. Well guess what, I found him. I goggled his name and came up with an email. I emailed him with some info and he returned the email with the correct info to identify him. We are presently trying to get the painting to Sandy after 20 years. I couldn’t destroy the painting well back then, and felt maybe somehow I would find Sandy. I am so happy I kept the painting. I don’t feel comfortable showing you the painting without Sandy and Uncle Johnny’s permission, but I don’t see why I can’t give you a little peek. I have to say this is pretty cool.

Cherub in the after stage. My old friend (Pro) and my new friend (Dan) and I had so much fun working on our projects. Obviously I did the cherub shelf. Dan worked on a wooden bar stool. He did a faux marble top with black legs. It really came out cute. As it would happen, Dan was at one of the Breaux Bridge garage sales at the same time as I was. I even remembered him. He really hit the jackpot. He purchased a number of great paintings and glassware, etc. Too much to mention. But his stack was very large as I remember. That particular sale had to be the best spot, that’s where Jodie got her typewriter. Any way, the second shelf I may try a different color for the faux finishing.

Will be learning a little about faux finishing today from an old friend. She gives classes every Tuesday from 9:00 to 11:00 in Lafayette. Should be fun. I’m bringing the cherub below to try my hand at altering the finish. Wish me luck. Hopefully the after photo will be astonishing. Should anyone be interested in my friends’ class, let me know and I’ll give you the details.

Rainy miserable day. Couldn’t do the outdoor market this morning. Need to find more indoor events for peddling my wares. Anyone have any ideas. Send them my way. Don’t you just love the witch and her cat sitting on the moon. I think she is saying bring on fall.

Jodie and Sarah were my companions for our garage sale hunt in Breaux Bridge yesterday. The whole city was a garage sale. Did we have fun? You bet. What follows is a sampling of what I found. This is not counting all the goodies Jodie and Sarah found. Sit back and enjoy the bounty.
